What to Pack

What to pack for your trip:

  • Passport
  • Yoga mat (It is recommended, but not necessary as Vida Asana has high quality mats to use)
  • Sunscreen (We are very close to the Equator, and the Sun’s rays are much stronger)
  • Bug spray
  • Cortisone or any cream or essential oil that helps relieve bug bites
  • Yoga clothes
  • Bathing suits
  • Light rain jacket
  • Hat/visor & sunglasses
  • Flip flops/sandals
  • Tropical weather clothing ie. shorts, tank tops, sun dresses, sarong
  • Shoes for hiking on the Rainmaker jungle excursion
  • Toiletries (Eco-friendly soap and shampoo are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own)
  • Water bottle (The water in Costa Rica is drinkable. You can fill up your water from the tap)
  • Headlamp or small flashlight
  • Phone charger (You do not need to bring an electrical outlet adapter if you are traveling from North, Central, or South America)
  • Small umbrella (optional)
  • Ear plugs (optional, if in a shared room)
  • Journal & pen
  • Books/reading materials
  • Little bag to put sunscreen/towel if going to beach or on a stroll
  • Do not pack fancy jewelry or flashy clothes
  • We do NOT recommend bringing a laptop. Your personal cell phone, smart watch, headphones, and a camera are ok to bring.  We DO recommend unplugging.
  • All items packed are your responsibility to store away when not in use. Do not leave electronic devices unattended. Those items and money need to be stored in either a hiding spot or the safe.
  • Cash in US dollars is widely accepted at all places throughout CR. You do not need to exchange to the local currency of Colones prior to the trip. If you pay for something in dollars you will get your change in colones. Recommended to bring $100-300 to pay for any food/snacks, beverages, massage, excursions not included in the retreat, souvenirs, surfing lessons, tipping the taxi driver, tipping the staff, etc. There are also ATM’s nearby if you need more cash. All major credit cards are accepted at markets, souvenir shops, restaurants, excursion offices. There is typically an international CC processing fee by your bank when using a credit card. Check with your bank to learn more. It would be a good idea to let your bank know that you will be traveling to Costa Rica.

PURA VIDA!
